Broome’s June to August climate as near perfect
If you are doing an Aussie circuit, then eventually Broome is going to be in view over the vehicle bonnet. It is off on a little dog-leg to Roebuck Bay but for most people it is not a place that you will want to pass by.
With heaps to see and being a local centre, it is the perfect place to re-supply and chill out for a few days off the road, whether you have just enjoyed the rigours of the Gibb River Road or the run up the West Coast.
Any road trips up that way involve some fairly large distances so once here I cannot imagine many people passing it by.
The town has everything you need, including a big new supermarket with everything in it that you would expect in the home town shop. It was hard to believe we were in this remote outpost of Australian civilisation and not in some suburban shopping centre.
Not quite what I had expected so you are certainly not roughing it when visiting this neck of the woods. Most people seem to visit Broome during the winter, when the southern regions are a bit chilly and the northern areas are cyclone free, monsoon free and also not too hot.
I know my team considered Broome’s June to August climate as near perfect but I’d bet that would change if we were there for the wet and the heat of summer. So having come so far, and with so many interesting things to see and do, you really may as well stay a while.
