Is it a caravan, a camper, NO it’s a J-POD by Jayco a lightweight trailer that is the perfect escape vehicle for couples or a single traveller. The totally unique J-POD gives a real sense of escape for those short breaks or even longer sojourns away from the madding crowd.

The POD’s come in two models namely the J-POD Sport and the J-POD Outback, both have been designed with RV adventure in mind. With the ability to carry kayak, surfboards or bikes on the roof then just pack your goodies and simply hit the road.

As you can see from the photos the trailer itself is mostly comprised of your sleeping space with a comfortable double bed along with plenty of storage space including under the bed- itself, add a 45litre fridge, and bed reading lights with USB ports and you are about done. Kitchen is a slide-out with sink and two burner stove with the optional 270 batwing awning, you have the perfect but simple camp setup.

Other key features include roof mounted solar panel, gas bottles, 80l water tank, built in battery management system with a built in 240v charger along with a 100ah AGM battery.

With the J-POD Sport coming in at a tare weight of 756kg and the Outback model tipping the scales at 904 kg you can tow the POD with a large range of sedans or small SUV. The J-POD Outback has real dirt road ability with JTECH 2.0 independent coil suspension and also a DO35 coupling hitch. If you are looking for extra accommodation for the kids, then the option of a roof top tent is available making the J-POD a true fun escape unit for up to a family of four.

The team at OTR will be taking a J-POD Outback away for a few months of winter escapes, from the NSW Mid North Coast to the Australian High Country for some real winter camping.

Our first reports on our travels and the J-POD will appear in the OTR Spring’22 edition , so as they say watch this space, we are really looking forward to putting this very unique little RV unit through its paces.
