Australian inventor, Corrie Moorcroft, has developed a revolutionary, portable system to collect precious rain water.
The Mobile Rain Catcher can be used both at home and away, domestically for gardens and landscaping; agriculture, farming and animals; hiking, camping and caravanning as well as humanitarian use in developing areas.
According to Mr Moorcroft, “We are about to enter the peak storm season here in
Australia. Homes can be without water for days on end. The Mobile Rain Catcher allows the collection of fresh rain water, to be used for drinking, meal preparation and washing.
It should be standard in everyone’s 72 hour emergency kits for use in cyclones, flooding, hurricanes – anywhere that traditional water supplies could be compromised.”
The kit is easy to use, durable and can easily withstand stormy conditions. Unlike traditional harvesting systems attached to buildings, the Mobile Rain Catcher is lightweight and portable. The smallest kit is carried in a small bag and weighs only 3.2kg. It can be set up in just 5 minutes.
Currently the subject of an International Patent application, The Mobile Rain Catcher is environmentally friendly and can allow safe harvesting of rain water, at times when water is scarce.
The collection systems are varied – water can be caught and stored in the 20L bladders (included on the X-Small and Small kits) or diverted into traditional water storage tanks and small reservoirs for later use.
Simply open up the mobile rain catcher kit and peg down the tarp to keep it secure during wet weather. Connect the hose and the water is diverted into the bladder, tank or reservoir. In remote areas, Mobile Rain Catcher can be left standing between rain events.
